Monotype Basics and More
All Levels
Pam Lawson
Whether you are an experienced artist looking for a new way of working, or someone who has never put paint on paper, the monotype has so many possibilities. In 3 days participants will have the chance to get to know the process and materials, gaining the insight to move beyond basics.
Using brushes, rollers and a wide variety of drawing tools, participants will develop an image on a plexiglass plate in a few hours, then transfer it to paper using a press. As you learn the technique and materials there are many ways to continue the exploration including stencils, cognate or ghost print and multiple plate printing.
A daily demonstration of the basics will cover how the inks behave, and general use the equipment. Participants will explore techniques at their own pace. Individual guidance will be provided.
Oil based etching inks are used with non-toxic oil and alcohol for cleaning.
